Sara Mohr-PietschSara Mohr-Pietsch

Sara Mohr-Pietsch was born in London in 1980, studied music at Cambridge University, and completed a masters in Musicology at the University of Edinburgh, where she taught until 2006.

Before becoming a presenter, Sara worked in arts administration for several festivals including the Edinburgh International Festival and the BBC Proms. She was part of the team that delivered EIF’s long-running education programme, Connecting to Music, and has worked on two projects with the Berlin Philharmonic’s Zukunft@BPhil initiative.

In 2005, Sara won a BBC Talent competition to become a classical music presenter based in Scotland. She now lives in London, and recently joined the presenting team on the Radio 3 breakfast show. She is also a regular presenter on Hear & Now.

Sara’s musical interests cover a wide range. She is passionate about contemporary music, relishing the opportunity to meet composers and give their music a platform. At the other end of the spectrum, she grew up on a strict diet of early music, and explored that repertoire as a singer at university. She has studied djembe in the Gambia, has given workshops on performing the music of Hildegard von Bingen, and plays the viola da gamba incredibly badly.
